5 Ways to Create Authentic Content

It’s time to #BeReal… is your social media content starting to feel “copy & paste”? That’s what happens when content creation starts to feel like a chore and is no longer a reflection of you and your brand!

We put together the following five tips to help guide you back into an authentic creative process. Save and reference this list!

1. Give Your Audience a Behind-the-Scenes Look >🤩

People love seeing the raw, unpolished side of their favorite brands. Showing the “behind the scenes” of your day-to-day activities can give your audience a peek behind the curtain and make your business feel more human. Whether it’s a snapshot of your messy desk, a parade of coffee cups that fuel your projects, or even your dog crashing a photoshoot, these moments are relatable and build a connection with your followers. Authenticity isn’t always about perfection—sometimes, it’s about showing the chaos.

2. Use your own voice 🗣️ !!

In an era of overly tailored, corporate-sounding, and AI-generated copy, it can be easy to lose your voice. While there’s certainly a place for polished content, when it comes to building a genuine connection with your audience, your personal voice matters most. Try writing captions or video scripts as if you’re talking to a friend! By using your natural tone and personality, you’ll create a more authentic and relatable experience for your audience.

3. Story time! “Part 36 of who TF did I marry…” (JK 🤪)

Stories are at the heart of human connection—and the heart of good marketing. People love “the tea,” whether it’s good, bad, interesting, or educational. Incorporating storytelling into your content creation will make your posts more engaging. Share your experiences, triumphs, and challenges. Whether you’re narrating a lighthearted moment or delving into a meaningful lesson, centering your story in your content will naturally engage and resonate with your audience.

4. Connect, connect, connect!

What better way to create engaging content than to literally engage… with content?? Take the time to connect with your followers through their comments, questions, and reactions. Repost stories, reply to comments with videos, and collaborate with your audience on posts. Not only does this encourage stronger relationships, but Instagram’s algorithm rewards interaction. So, the more you engage, the more visible your content will be.

5. Stay on brand!

It’s so easy to see what other people are doing online and feeling like you need to compare yourself/your content to theirs. When you start copying or fixating on other people’s brands, you lose sight of your own… so find inspiration, but create it in a way that aligns with your brand, your mission, and your messaging. Maybe not every single trend is going to be right for you — and that’s okay!
